Well, the HP support bot actually was useful. I had forgotten to remove the wifi adapter and reboot; that fixed the wifi disconnections.
BUT it agreed the SSD is starting to fail, but not enough to replace yet. And there is a little over a month of warranty left.
I've noted that HP makes offers for extended warranty as the expiration gets closer. Otherwise $130 for another year

I have to add the HP support bot was better than most human support people, especially first-tier.
It took one problem at a time, have enough info for me to do what it asked, like run device manager (but most likely could have said how to do that if I asked). And told me it would pick up where we left off after rebooting. I did have to go back to the support site and open a new chat, but it then asked if I wanted to continue where I left off.
But I do wish HP's warranty would cover a problem that started before expiration instead of waiting for a hard failure. I guess they want their extended warranty.
