Venezuela is demonstrating a distinct leftist bent in blocking aid and rescue efforts and the current leadership of Delcy Rodriguez was supposed to end at 180 days, which was this last weekend. She's still in office. That's a problem. And the voices reporting on Venezuela aren't necessarily releasing news or accurate information but more slander against Maria Machado. Honestly, it's a mess, and I can't fathom what the right next step is.

Reply to vxbush in 1: The right next step is for Venezuelans to take back their country. Just like for Persians in Iran. Why they don't is complicated and multi-faceted.

Why they don't is complicated and multi-faceted. Too many years of living under the boots?

Reply to vxbush in 3: That is one factor. People are resistant to change, there are cultural factors, religious factors, fear of repercussions, fear things will get worse, there has to be a real possibility of successful to get enough people on board.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 5: We stand for organized terror — this should be frankly admitted. Terror is an absolute necessity during times of revolution. Our aim is to fight against the enemies of the Soviet Government and of the new order of life. We judge quickly. In most cases only a day passes between the apprehension of the criminal and his sentence.
