California spent $450 million to build a digital 911 system to replace the analog one. They turned it on....and it didn't work. The home of technology progress for over 30 years was still relying on analog systems for emergencies, and they still are, because this new system has been scrapped.

Maybe Newsom should think twice about rolling out any millionaire's tax, because all the know-how is leaving the state.

The Mexican cartels are flying drones into the US. Most recent set was stopped, but folks along the southern border should be very careful.

Why on earth is the NCAA giving a football player a ninth year of eligibility to play football? Who is sweetening the deal to convince the NCAA to do this? Granted, he has a lot of injuries, but I'm sorry--maybe the universe is trying to tell him he should find another thing to enjoy. The NCAA should NOT be enabling this.

Did anyone watch either of the Ma Deuce videos in yesterday's thread?

Any comment on the lamp my uncle built?

I know he served in Iceland (have the book) and probably elsewhere; war souveniers including a German canteen, German officer's short sword, and some kind of probably minor German medal.

He passed away before I was born, so I don't have the stories behind all this.

I did see the lamp, and I had to wonder how his other family members felt about such a piece. But then I'm the type of person who doesn't put much stock in creating certain types of physical holders for memories.

I don't really know what they thought. I find the lamp interesting but don't use it. If I wanted to, I'd probably put in new wire and socket because it is so old
