I disagree with this article, but want to bring it up with the gang: We’re About to Enter the Third Age of Medicine. Early Adapters Will Live Longer An AI summary describes it as: "The Third Age of Medicine, personalized healthcare, is emerging, utilizing data from wearable devices and AI to tailor healthcare plans to individual needs. This shift from evidence-based healthcare, which relies on population data, promises to maximize lifespan by addressing unique biological factors. Early adopters of this technology, despite privacy concerns, are poised to benefit significantly from this personalized approach to healthcare." That description is aspirational for both the technology and the article, as far as I am concerned, because even if the technology can detect something, it doesn't mean the doctors will believe the technology. They will just chalk it up to human weirdness and move on. It doesn't fit their predetermined classification. See the article for the story where the patient saw multiple doctors but they didn't act until she had serious symptoms ending up in the ER. With that said, I am ALL about having more data about yourself and what your experience is; I think it is vastly more helpful to know what the distribution of your blood tests are over years so when your reading is outside three standard deviations of your norm, you can now tell your doctor that is statistically significant and he needs to consider it seriously, rather than just look at the acceptable range across the entire population of humans. This is why my thyroid issues were ignored for years when I was absolutely miserable and I couldn't convince a doctor otherwise. I would love to work with a team of doctors where they actually start keeping track of statistical data on their patients. Would LOVE it.
