Iranian Endgames?

Victor Davis Hanson

The Iranian regime has never viewed “negotiations” as a path leading to an ultimate “deal.” At best, the regime’s supposedly “elected” government plays good cop, while the bad cop theocratic henchmen periodically violate whatever understandings have been reached. Accordingly, talks remain perpetually fluid, punctuated by delays, pauses, and renewed demands. The regime’s art of “dealing” is not aimed at resolution but at gaining strategic advantage by postponing any military effort that leads to their demise. The regime’s mere survival is broadcast as victory, whatever the damage to the country.

I think the 60 day ceasefire is for the Iranian regime to assemble nuclear bombs.

The "negotiations" are just to delay long enough to do so.

Very good possibility. I'm Mossad's penetration of Iran's nuclear program is as good as it has been in the past.

I would not be surprised if there is a nuclear explosion in the underground facility where Iran is making bonbs.

A HUGE work accident.

Hansen generally has it.  (But is somewhat wrong when he says, we've won the shooting war.  The shooting war wasn't what really mattered.)

"DinnerJacket" was never in a position of authority.  At least until the death of Khamenei, the country was ruled by the Expediency Council.  The "elected" government (go back and see June 2009) is utterly wallpaper.  Bull hockey.  Until February, the Tehran/Qom government was the Expediency Council running daily operations.  The Guardian Council deciding who could be in elected office.  The Assembly of Experts would supposedly decide upon the successor to the Supreme Leader (Khamenei)

See this by Melanie Phillips, today.

DinnerJacket's only claim to notoriety is being a core member of the Hojiatieh Sect, which believe the Twelfth Imam lives at the bottom of the Jamkaran well, and will reappear if Israel (or the US) can be made to launch a humongously catastrophic nuclear strike on Iran.  That's where today's IRGC's head is at.

The clueless Donald is being taken for a ride.  A few months ago, The Donald was thinking of establishing Ahmadinejad as the new ruler.  That's the LAST thing any rational person who knows history would want.

An "internal uprising" is the ONLY thing which will win victory over the radical Twelver Shiism which runs Iran.  Trump is headed precisely down Obama's June 2009 path.
