DOJ investigating E. Jean Carroll, writer who accused Trump of sexual assault: report

On the one hand they should just leave it alone, makes them look vindictive.

On the other hand, it would be interesting to see if her accusation can be tied to the larger anti-Trump efforts.

This is part of where I have to wonder if Trump realizes how things look sometimes. I'm not saying his DOJ should consider this if it's appropriate, but the optics are horrible.

The government has already been weaponized.  If one is---supposedly---in charge, and have already been subjected to said weaponization,  showing that the shoe can also be jammed on the other foot is useful in pushing back that weaponization, much as unexpectedly punching back a schoolyard bully may...encourage him...to alter his prior pattern of conduct.
