Where did everyone suddenly go? We had such a nice crowd today---and so many comments, someone almost won the Coveted Stuffed Bear.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 3: I just finished dinner (pan-fried pork loin chop and sauteed cabbage). I should be writing a short paper that's due in three hours. I've got plenty of time.

I just finished dinner, too, ribeye steak with couscous and spinach. I am half watching season three episode one of “Babylon Berlin“ as I start to clean up.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 5: I've been steak-deprived since my HOA, at the command of the insurance company, outlawed gas and charcoal grills. I ordered an indoor electric grill that arrived today, but I haven't put it together yet. I'm thinking Korean barbecue tomorrow night.

Local gas price: $1.96/gal. It would be $1.58, but for Gov. Pritzker's $0.38/gal. tax imposed last July. He was elected in 2018. The term of office of Governor of Illinois is 4 years, and there is no limit on the number of terms a governor may serve. Oh, goody. At least two more years of him, unless he gets the special Illinois governor Ryan/Blago sendoff. So there is some hope, I guess.

Quick bite to eat, then back to work. Working at home isn't that efficient with kids, animals, wife....

Reply to Occasional Reader in 10: A mohel retired, and went to a leather worker. "Here are all the foreskins from my long career. Can you make something nice from them?" "Sure. Come back in a month" The mohel returned, and was handed a wallet/ "A wallet? This is the best you could do?" "Yes, but if you rub the wallet, it turns into a briefcase"

I am so tired of the triumvirate of flatulent assholes, if you will pardon my language. We've got the Leftists who hate Fauci, because he disagreed with the gay-rights movement ideologues back during the AIDS crisis. We've got the supposed "conservatives" who hate Fauci because he has occasionally disagreed with Trump publicly. And we've got the free-floating idiots who hate Fauci simply because he's doing his job and because Trump hired him.

Reply to JCM in 14: same here, despite how odd and difficult things are I consider myself blessed for those same reasons.
And I’m trying to figure out ways to modestly send around at least some of the fruits of those blessings.
