Happy Wednesday, everyone. I've updated the Frontier with important information. Please go forth and read.

The Pentagon has done whatever it can with a heaping assistance of Presidentish Biden to make sure our fighting forces are unable to carry out their mission:

Did you know that the U.S. Naval Academy has a course in gender studies? Even if this is new information, at this point, you probably aren't surprised. The stories of the U.S. Army's efforts to transform itself into a massive drag brunch in fatigues are legion. Couple that with what amounted to Joe Biden's massive giveaway of arms and equipment in Afghanistan and donations to Ukraine, and you have a military that is unequipped, unprepared, and possibly uninterested in the nation's defense.

I know from acquaintances that there are still people in the military who want to protect this country, but they are not advanced to the level of making decisions for the military. Instead, you get political players like Lt. Gen. Deanna Burt who thinks bills that have been filed in the state houses that do things to prevent seven year olds from learning about gender identity or sexual orientation are immediately anti-LGBTQIAZZZZZZ laws. Maybe she misspoke, but the requirement to play the LGBTQIAssinine political games is ruining far too much.

I cannot help but think these people have put themselves in this corner--and they have done so willingly. People complained back in the 70's that women shouldn't be shoehorned into acting certain ways or dressing certain ways, and that made sense. We separated the biological reality of being a woman from requiring a set group of behaviors and job choices for women but admitted women were women. Now that choice has been flipped on its head to say that if you wear certain clothes and have certain behaviors, you are now called a woman, despite the biology. The inversion is amazing to behold.

Whoops--forgot the important part of why I'm venting. The headline for the article includes the phrase "Troop Readiness Affected by Non-Existent Anti-LGBT Laws", indicating said lieutenant general thinks military readiness depends on state bills that haven't been passed yet. How does someone get to this position and not know this other than the destruction of real education in the US?

In the middle of drumbeats about spiraling costs, outrageous inflation, and worries about a recession, Biden does this

According to the Washington Post's story on Biden's executive order making the "historic" salary increases, the federal workforce "will receive pay raises averaging 5.2 percent — more in some high-salary areas — under an order President Biden signed" that "delivers the biggest increase to U.S. government workers since the Carter administration."

I'm curious to know if anyone is getting increases going into the new year. I am, but it's nowhere close to a 5% increase.

And while Congress has the power to override this pay increase, as long as they do nothing--which is what they have done since this was suggested in March--it automatically goes into affect.

Looks like part of the political struggles going on in Washington have added benefits of keeping people from paying attention to things like this.

Elon Musk is not someone who is going to put up with aggressive behavior against him. Not only does he file lawsuits against groups like Media Matters for spreading lies about X, he has decided to take Disney off the main screen of the Tesla entertainment centers in the cars

Making up new words to describe the same old thing in an effort to get attention. This is so predictable it has become tiresome.

Okay, enough ugly news. Let me see if I can find something encouraging.

Well, I can't find anything easily in the MSM or the UK news, and "good news" sites like the Optimist are crowing about electricity from air based on a study identifying an enzyme in a mycobacterium that is clearly just the first step in getting to the headline, which is probably going to take decades if it can get that far.

Sigh. Time to get back to work.

Rumsfeld's "you fight with the army you have" aphorism, another truth he was deride for will come home to roost.

When whatever kicks off.... our current military leadership will get a bunch of good people killed. The stark realization that bullets don't give a shit about pronouns will kick in.

The only question is will we have enough time for the warriors have enough time to take over in order to win.

The stupidity of calling it an "occupation" is really starting to make my blood boil. I can only imagine how frustrating it is for Jewish believers and Israeli citizens across the globe.

I guess you could call it "good news" that this evil is now clearly on display and is no longer hiding under nice terminology or euphemisms.

So, those of you who work with power tools--I need a replacement DeWalt 9.6V battery pack, but apparently DeWalt no longer makes the type 1 model. So who makes a good model that will work well instead? Amazon has something like forty gazillion off-brand knockoffs that are probably unreliable and probably have fake reviews. I'd like a reasonable alternative. Perhaps Interstate Battery would have something?

The planned obsolescence makes me crazy.

I have a corded power power drill my grandfather bought 60 years ago That is still going strong.

As to which replacement?

MTO does rebuilds.

Batteries Plus has a one year warranty.

Have you used them before? That seems the option most likely to match the OEM specs.

I'm a "contingent worker" so I just get the 2.5% increase or 5 extra days PTO on the anniversary of my start date.

Since where I work has close to 15 holidays and special closings that my contract house doesn't include, I go for the PTO, as it works out the same.
