Given the doom and gloom that hangs over this country and also this website, I will post just one article today that is negative, and try to find stories that are more upbeat.

Amazon Bans Another Book for the Crime of Opposing the Left

I share this because it is a continuation of policies that started back when we were at some other blog.

Of course, a little thing called work keeps intruding.....

"Remember bookstores? There used to be many in any good-sized city, and if one declined to carry a certain book, which was a rare thing in itself, you could likely find it in another. But now there is mostly just Amazon

... which, ironically, in more recent years, has been building... bookstores.

Yes, I've heard about that, although where I live our town is too small to merit an Amazon bookstore. I can't speak to others, but I know when my sister and I are together, we often like to go browsing at bookstores as an activity. Books are hugely important to us, so it merits its own time. Perhaps Amazon realized they were missing out on that physical experience and the chance to upsell goods like food and drink and create a space that people *want* to go to.

In the affluent "Woodmont Triangle" area of Bethesda, MD, the Amazon bookstore was opened only a block or so where the big Barnes & Noble used to be (that space is now a clothing store); almost like it was deliberate irony.

2 shootings overnight.... one cop injured. And rocks being thrown from an overpass onto the freeway hitting cars.

Just another night in West Coast Chicago.

That would not surprise me at all.

The culprits are gun violence, and rock violence, respectively.  The answer is: More gun control laws, and also rock control laws, and defunding the police, and decriminalizing crime.  Next question?

Ramadan starts tomorrow!

It's the most bloodthirsty time of the year!

While devout Muslims fast they'll send bombers to blast any infidels near

It's the most bloodthirsty time of the year!

Every year at a different time it befalls

With a calendar that's lunar which they know the kuffar won't follow at all

Each year at a different time it befalls

They'll all fast through the daytime

But at nightfall the gay time

Starts with feasting that lasts through the night

And if they should choose to fix

Up some jihadi tricks

The Koran tells them that it's all right

It's the most bloodthirsty time of the year

Flying limbs and beheadings infidels are dreading

And the jihadis savor that fear

It's the most bloodthirsty time of the year

They'll all fast through the daytime

But at nightfall the gay time

Starts with feasting that lasts through the night

And if they should choose to fix

Up some jihadi tricks

The Koran tells them that it's all right

It's the most bloodthirsty time of the year

Flying limbs and beheadings infidels are dreading

And the jihadis savor that fear

It's the most bloodthirsty time

Yes, the most bloodthirsty time

Oh, the most bloodthirsty time

Of the year!

Almost like it was a mosque being opened on the site of a victorious jihad...

You mean IF we retire. My 401K is dwindling to nothing and we can’t assume Social Security will be worth anything.

At that size, they’ll be supported by the shoulders.

One way to make the time pass on a long Teams call, one in which you don't have to say much; practice draw/chamber/aim on your carry pistol, using snap caps.

My favorite Putinista/Code Pink "Conservative" comment at Insty today, on the subject of the war in Ukraine:

"“The US got Ukraine embroiled in this idiotic war for its own idiotic purposes.”"

So, the US got Ukraine embroiled in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.   Okey doke.

So Google doodle today is about Marcel Marceau, and it does acknowledge that he saved Jewish children from the Nazis.
