Me this morning -- staring at youngest boy saying "get dressed" sotto voce until he finally gets fed up and goes get dressed. I've pretty much been winging this parenting thing for two decades.

Thinking about it, I think you are more right than you know--those books are written by "experts" who claim to know everything related to child-rearing. However, many of those books aren't that connected to reality. The parents who train their kids according to reality and not some lofty standard are probably going to be better able to handle the world and not crack.

King County Detention dramatically lowers standards for ‘equity’ hires The King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention dramatically lowered its hiring standards to promote more people of color and LGBTQ employees. Consequently, the department effectively adopts affirmative action policies rather than hiring the candidates best suited for the job. In 2018, the DAJD conducted an equity impact review for its Corrections Sergeants promotional process. It found that while several minority candidates applied, few passed the written exam. Rather than address why the results looked the way they did, the department lowered the threshold to pass the exam.

Reply to JCM in 10: Just what you want. People that aren't skilled or trainable dealing with potential criminals. They'll either get killed themselves or create another Floyd scenario when old George doesn't cooperate with them. Some "expert" should write a book on how to deal with this situation!

Just like BLM wants to get some of their useless idiots killed by cops to further the agenda. Maybe. But the LGBTQ∞ folks may just see having anyone in these roles as counting towards some mystical quantity that is "good". These people act as totems, so they don't have to do a good job.
